The last four centuries have seen this essentially English building serve as a coaching inn,
private residence, sanatorium for the injured of two world wars and, twenty five years ago,
its reversion to catering for the needs of travellers (we are 10 minutes from the M11 and only
20 minutes from Stansted Airport ), local residents and visitors to this pretty part of the North
Essex/Hertfordshire borders. Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and special events are
celebrated here and, in keeping with its heritage, the restaurant has built a reputation for the
very best of traditional English cooking - not for us tiny portions of fancy French dishes
at even fancier prices.
We are now changing our menu every week to give our customers the widest variety of fresh food prepared by our chefs daily.
